The purpose of an assessment is to identify those areas where your child can be supported through my interventions.  I will:

  • Conduct a full assessment of your child's abilities
  • Identify where the child needs help
  • Discuss the results with the Parents
  • Develop an individual programme to support their development
  • Adapt the programme for use at school or home
  • Liaise directly with other professionals involved with the child

Part of this assessment involves a detailed questionnaire that I will ask you to complete and also one to be completed by your child's teacher(s).  The assessment takes approximately three hours and I also allocate some time to discuss my initial, tentative, observations with Parents.

On completion of the assessment you will receive a comprehensive written report, usually within a week, that forms the basis of further treatment programmes.  This document provides a baseline against which improvement can be assessed enabling me to compare results in say six months to measure progress.

This is a legal document that you will need it and may use it to help ensure you are provided with additional support from health and education services and your child's school.
